CBD / Cannabis Oil – Hype or Miracle Cure?

Understanding the Basics

CBD /Cannabis Oil is now available in most parts of the world. The laws around THC levels vary between states and countries. There seems to be a lot of confusion about the difference between CBD oil and some Cannabis oils with a high psychoactive THC content. Many people report using CBD for a wide range of ailments, everything from insomnia to cancer. There is a long list of very serious diseases that are being treated with CBD and THC medicinal oils and tinctures.

Cannabis sativa at a molecular level is broken down into the two most common components, Tetrahydrocannabinol [THC] and Cannabidiol [CBD]. The main thing that grabbed the attention of the scientific community is that we have cannabinoid receptors in our brains and bodies. It is as if we are meant to consume the cannabinoids found in the hemp plant. The CBD / Cannabis Oil industry is growing massively, throughout the world as people are discovering its benefits.

Hype or Miracle Cure?

CBD / Cannabis Oil is undoubtedly bringing relief to millions of people with a plethora of conditions that are being treated. Tons of video evidence on YouTube has created an enormous demand for this natural medicine. I would not go so far as to call CBD a miracle cure, but there is no denying it as a powerful supplement to our health. There is still so much for us to learn about plant medicine. These are still early but exciting days in the discovery of cannabis.

I can only share the benefits of my personal experience with CBD / Cannabis Oil. I have used medicinal oil with high THC levels for pain relief, experiencing amazing results. For anxiety and sleep, I found lower THC and higher CBD levels from an Indica strain worked very well. We are still debating whether a small amount of THC is needed to aid in the effects of CBD . There is also the legal issue of how much THC is allowed in the CBD oil, which varies from country to country.

Finding The Best Products

After looking long and hard to find a suitable source, I eventually came across the product range from Canna Trading Co. Vhawker has decided to partner with them as we learn and grow in our knowledge of this amazing herb. The efficacy of the tinctures has been maximized by developing special blends of terpenes, creating the best formula.

Terpenes are powerful aromatic molecules responsible for the flavor and aroma of plants. But terpenes do more than provide flavor and aroma. They also support other cannabis molecules in producing wanted effects. We call this the entourage effect, and it’s the reason terpenes have become such a critical piece of the cannabis puzzle.

Cannabis contains hundreds of molecules that have the ability to directly interact with our bodies and minds. Cannabinoid molecules are relatively unique to the cannabis plant, but other plant-derived molecules such as flavonoids and terpenes also bind to our cells and influence our experiences.

In addition to their aromas, terpenes have direct interactions with our bodies. For instance, alpha-pinene and beta-caryophyllene interfere with molecules that dilate our blood vessels. Less dilation equals less inflammation. Evidence suggests that whole-plant cannabis (that includes terpenes) is superior to isolated compounds from the plant. This isn’t entirely surprising: if pinene is anti-inflammatory, and CBD is also anti-inflammatory, then the body has a chance to fight inflammation from two different angles. This combined benefit is known as the Entourage Effect; cannabinoids like THC and CBD produce better outcomes when they are consumed alongside a supporting cast of terpenes.

Discovering Your Preference

CBD / Cannabis Oil and our preferred methods of absorption require some variety in application and strength. We have everything from CBD for pet health to vape pens and cartridges. These vape products are CBD-based and contain no more than 0.3% THC, so there is no psychoactive effect or high achieved by inhaling it. Many people like myself prefer using oil. A few drops on the tongue and you are good to go.

I make no claims on what your outcome will be and the benefits you will enjoy. We each do our own research and take responsibility for our own health, wherever possible. If in doubt, consult your doctor before using any supplements, especially if you are already using other medication.

I hope this short article has been informative and helps you make the best choices for your mental and physical health.

Working from home

Making it work

Working from home or from anywhere is what most of us are trying to accomplish. This is not only possible but a very realistic and viable option. Millions of entrepreneurs around the world are discovering their niche and making a go of it. The thought of not having to travel to a job that you hate every day is enough reason to put in the effort!

Working from home

Being location independent is such an attractive concept, causing millions to rethink their current situation. Working from home makes sense to everyone who has the self-discipline to achieve success.    The one thing many fail to understand is the amount of hard work that goes into establishing their online presence. There is an amazing book titled The 4-Hour Work Week which explains in great detail how to get started. Unfortunately, many people have heard of this book but have not actually read it. The title can be a bit misleading. You can not start off by only working four hours per week.

Working from home
grinding away

Get out what you put in

We learned from a young age about working hard to achieve our goals. There is no difference when setting up an online business. Working from home can at times be even more challenging and requires tremendous self-discipline. As a mental health coach and aspiring NLP practitioner, I am naturally goal-orientated. If it wasn’t for my background in coaching, I’m not sure if I would still be grinding away at my keyboard.

I do not intend regurgitating what all the others are selling in the form of courses and tutorials.  If I have to repeat one thing that they are all saying, it is, find your niche! Once you have discovered what you enjoy and are passionate about, you will be able to put in the hours. Working from home requires hard work and dedication if you are to succeed. Stay focused and don’t allow yourself to be distracted.

Competing in the digital world

Working from home as a digital marketer is extremely competitive. You need to move away from a competitive mindset and concentrate on bettering your self. If you focus on others and their skills versus your own, you will never be at ease with what you are doing. Strive to find your individuality and uniqueness. We are all unique in some way and this can be demonstrated in our work. Compete only with your self.

Authenticity is important if you are to succeed. We can’t always get away from copying anyone but we should try to be as authentic as possible. There are so many avenues to choose from as a digital nomad or work from home mom. Whatever you decide is your forte, become a specialist in it. This has been my biggest hurdle, having too many projects on at the same time. For me, there is no going back now, as I am passionate about all my platforms. This has caused a delay in my progress as I spread myself thin over the various niche markets.

Balanced life

Working from home shouldn’t be just hard work. We need to find balance in our lives. In the early stages of my online career, I wrote Free I Am which explains how I managed to find that balance. If we are to succeed, then we need to be in it for the long haul. The only way to stick it out is by having a holistic approach to our mental wellness. The last thing you want is burnout.

Keep your health in check by acquiring the services of a qualified nutritionist. Working from home can also result in overworking and not getting enough sleep, exercise, and sunshine. It’s all about balance. The stress of not earning enough or none at all, in the beginning, can also creep in. One of my specialties is stress management. I just can’t imagine advancing in life without a stress reduction plan in place.

Unschooled homeschooling dad

 The end of an era

Unschooled homeschooling dad is coming to the end of his year as a full-time teacher. It has been an adventure, to say the least. I am so grateful to have spent the time with my boys and having a part in their education. It has not always been easy. My two sons are just as strong-willed as I was in my youth. This meant things didn’t always run all that smoothly.

We tend to clash often, but our love for each other continues to grow. We are learning so many life skills together and discovering much of what life has to offer, both good and bad. As I type this, I become aware of just how proud I am of these two amazing young men.

Unschooled homeschooling dad
learning and growing together

Unschooled homeschooling dad

Due to circumstances, I took the challenge of home educating my children. While my wife used the time building her business and working full time, I committed to a year of teaching, learning, and self-discovery. Unschooled homeschooling dad has found a thirst for knowledge that I never had in the institutional school system.

I’ve truly stretched myself in tackling problems and formulas that I either forgot or never actually learned in my school days. I can see how my desire to learn and do research has positively influenced my sons to do the same. I have very little schooling due to my rebelliousness back in the day. Only after the age of 40 did I start to pursue my interests in mental health coaching.

Open minds

If there is one thing that I have noticed in my boy’s as a direct result of been homeschooled, it is their open-mindedness. In my first book, Free I Am, I went into a lot more detail on the benefits of a home educated family. Whether homeschooling or unschooling, these kids are by no means just another brick in the wall. They do not simply conform to the system but question everything.

Unschooled homeschooling dad has also experienced growth during this family learning period. I have made a pact with myself to never stop learning, as long as I live. We are living in an era where information is literally at our fingertips.

For those who have their doubts about the unschooling philosophy, don’t worry, I do too. Having said that, I can not deny the fact that those kids who are unschooling have ways and means of receiving a more natural education than I ever did as a young boy. It is not easy being a minority, especially when it comes to challenging the status quo. I commend all those brave parents who have chosen what is best for their families even when facing opposition.

Unschooled homeschooling dad

Looking to the future

There are philosophers, psychologists, and many great minds speaking out against the educational system. This outdated system has not seen a major upgrade in more than 100 years. How do you apply such a system to an ever-changing world?

We are in a time where artificial intelligence is taking over millions of jobs. Some say as much as 800 million workers will be replaced by A.I. within the next 15 years.  I honestly can’t see how conventional schooling can effectively equip our kids for what is about to happen.

All that makes sense to me at this point is to encourage my boys in whatever subject truly interests them. I would rather have my kid excel at coding than just scraping by in history and other subjects that he has no passion for. Its time to start living outside the box.

Unschooled homeschooling dad
gearing up for the future

Living life to the fullest

Life is short and unpredictable. Unschooled homeschooling dad has come to realize nothing is permanent. We are on this earth for such a short time and never know when our time is up. I want to make the most of the time I do have with my family and treasure every minute of it.

As a family, we have structured our lives in a way that gives us the freedom we deserve. My wife is now teaching English online and working as a holistic nutritionist and together we run affiliate websites that will eventually provide us with passive income. Even my oldest son has his own online presence and is currently monetizing his various platforms.

I hope this brief article inspires those who are considering the homeschool option. There are many groups on social media that are sharing ideas, resources and providing a support system for each other. Please leave a comment below and share a bit of your own journey with us.

Mental health gym

Maintaining mental wellness

Mental health gym and the importance of maintaining our mental health is no mystery to most people. We all realize our need to think clearly and have a peaceful mind. The only problem is, we are not sure how to maintain a positive mental state. Many of us are plagued by ongoing negative thoughts and various degrees of feeling stuck.

The feeling of being stuck is synonymous with many mental health issues. I don’t want to delve into the long list of psychological disorders. For this article, I want to concentrate on practical, day to day exercises that can improve our mental state. Mental health gym is what I call it.

Mental health gym
working at maintaining our mental wellness

Mental health gym

Yes, there are DIY ways of taking care of our mental health. Taking the necessary steps to address certain presenting issues will often mean talking to a professional or a mental health coach. Sometimes our situation will seem beyond our control and cognitive therapy will help to regain control over lives.

Mental health gym exercises range from a walk in the park with your dog to reading self-help books. I can’t emphasize the importance of exercise enough when it comes to our mental well-being. Regardless of our physical abilities, there is always something we can do to help release endorphins and distract us from what is causing distress. Yoga is my first suggestion when it comes to stress reduction through body movement.

Practicing mindfulness and stress reduction techniques will greatly assist in restoring our mental health. There are some helpful articles on the Monkeymind website that can steer you back on track.

Nutrition

There is so much we can do to improve our mental state by eating right. Mental health gym hack number 1, get your nutrition right! Educate yourself on vitamins and minerals that help produce serotonin and reduce stress. You will be doing yourself a great favor by connecting with a qualified nutritionist. I recommend reaching out to barbara@plantbasednutrition.guru for nutritional counseling.

Mental health toolbox

We are dealing with a complexed mind that is constantly being subjected to various stimuli and programs. To get the best possible outcome, we need to do more than just talk-therapy to achieve results. Fill up that mental health toolbox with as many different therapeutic tools as possible.

Mental health gym workouts consist of working on our perception of life and addressing our distorted thought patterns. There are so many excellent books out there that can help bring light into the dark areas of our mind. The Monkeymind bookshop has a great selection of self-help titles to add to that toolbox.

Life outside the box

Living in a box

We grow up in a society that is driven by a totalitarian system. Living in this box is not easy, but for most of us, it’s all we know. We are literally labeled as taxpayers. This alone should set off alarm bells. The crazy part is how most citizens will defend this system, often with their lives. I self-published an e-book, Free I Am that goes into a lot more detail on this subject.  I promise not to push my anarchist ideals of a self-governed society in this article too hard. Life outside the box is very possible in this day and age, and millions of people are discovering how.

Life outside the box
turning dreams into reality

Life outside the box

These are exciting times, with loads of opportunities.  Life outside the box starts with some conscious decision making. Do you want the 9-5 job in a workspace that you do not enjoy?  For some people,  the answer might be yes. It takes some courage to leave your comfort zone and go against the grain. The life that our parents and grandparents lived in is a lot different than how it looks today.

Making the decision to break out of the box allows us to start living on our own terms. Life outside the box is all about self-discovery, fun, adventure, and freedom. Choosing an alternative lifestyle over the stressful existence our slave masters have designed for us is a no-brainer for me.

Life outside the box
freedom is a choice

Weighing the options

If you are still reading this blog then you are in the company of like-minded people who naturally think outside the box. Life outside the box starts now! Most of us ‘free thinkers’ have dreams of travel, but are not sure where or how to start. There are numerous options out there, Your choice will depend upon your interests.

I can only recommend what appeals to me and many others that are wired the same way. My minimalist mindset would have me drawn to nature and not necessary an ultra-modern city. I do enjoy exploring cities, but for not more than a day or two. A lot of people are considering Portugal or Spain as a stepping stone in their plans of slow travel. Working as an English teacher is a perfect way of seeing the world. A premier TEFL course will help you qualify in most countries to teach English.

Life outside the box
putting plans into motion

Goal setting

Life outside the box starts with setting SMART goals, Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Timed goals. Once you have worked out the specifics, then put your plans in motion. Here are links to some great deals on flights and accommodation.

Achieving goals is so rewarding and provides us with the confidence to stretch ourselves and set even bigger ones. No matter how small the goal is that you wish to attain, don’t dismiss it. We need to practice at winning in life. Our whole lives, we have been programmed to fear stepping out into the world and taking responsibility for our future. We can’t rely on others for our happiness.

Life outside the box
stepping out into a whole new world

Smashed that box

Please comment in the section below and share some of your dreams and accomplishments. I would love to hear your stories and any advise you can offer. Thank you for taking the time to read this article, and I hope the resources I have added will be of great help to you.

Plastic pollution

How did we get to this point?

We will see what we are allowing to happen when we choose to acknowledge the truth. Plastic pollution is slowly killing our planet. We started using plastic in a time when our population stood at a quarter of what it is today. Plastic eventually replaced many robust materials that would have lasted much longer than their plastic replacements. In the last century, the production of plastic has got completely out of hand. We now produce over 300 million tons of it annually and less than 10% of this plastic is recycled.

Plastic pollution

This planet and life as we know it cannot withstand much more of our destructive behavior. The Great Pacific Garbage Patch which lies between Hawaii and California is evidence of our disregard for Mother Earth. This floating island of plastic pollution is said to be the size of Texas. This garbage patch has an estimated weight of 79000 metric tons.

There are more of these garbage patches floating in our oceans. One of them in the Indian Ocean is covering an area of 5 million square kilometers. By the year 2050, the marine debris is expected to triple. The fishing industry is one of the biggest culprits in polluting our oceans. Most of the waste is fishing gear and nets. Is it too late, or can we fix this thing?

Plastic pollution in our oceans take the lives of over 100 million marine animals each year. This alone should be reason enough to stop us in our tracks.

Plasatic pollution
This albatross chick is just one out of millions of victims

Can we fix this?

I wonder why it takes so long for the government to intervene and bring an end to the use of fossil fuels. The only possible reason for the delay in governments taking action is money. These psychopaths have no care for Earth or her inhabitants. This is no conspiracy theory, just look around at the devastation. People and animals are the least of their concern.

Plastic pollution can only be contained or controlled by means of a global effort. We need to take responsibility for our actions. It is no use blaming or relying on corrupt politicians to correct a problem that they are financially benefitting from. It is up to us to stop purchasing products made from non-renewable resources. A great way to help is to volunteer at a local beach or river clean up.

Light at the end of the tunnel

I believe there is light at the end of the tunnel. An organization, Ocean Cleanup has set out to tackle the job of removing the Pacific Garbage Patch, at a cost of $ 32 M. If they are successful, we can apply similar techniques in other areas of the ocean.

There is the talk of using plastic waste and marine debris in repairing roads. This method apparently works very well and is superior to the use of asphalt. Repairing roads with used plastic waste is a huge step forward in combating this massive problem. Plastic pollution can be collected and put to good use. This is not easy, nor cheap. However, it can be done.

Alternatives

There are always alternatives. Stop buying plastic water bottles. Glass bottles are a far better option. Refuse plastic bags and rather get reusable shopping bags. Insist on cornstarch, biodegradable packaging for your fruit and veg, which is readily available and cheap. Plastic additives like prodegradant concentrates promote oxidation. This means they break down the plastic enough for microorganisms to consume them, eventually turning into carbon dioxide. Another exciting alternative to polystyrene is nanowood which will hopefully stop the production of styrofoam.

We can replace nearly every product we use with reusable, renewable or sustainable materials. Companies and ethical online shopping malls like vhawker.com are providing the consumer with a wide variety of options.

Plastic pollution
Reusable tote bag made from upcycled parachute hammock material

Taking responsibility

There is simply no excuse for any of us to continue contributing to the senseless suffering of marine wildlife. Most forms of plastic are toxic and will only lead to disease and poisoning of eco-systems. Chlorinated plastic can seep through the soil into the groundwater, affecting all who drink from it. There is so much that can go wrong if we continue along this path of madness. But let’s take a stand and turn this thing around.

Importance of Exercise

Be our best

Our bodies are designed to move and to do so regularly. We function at our best with regular movement. Building muscle and improving our metabolic rate help the body maintain a lean and healthy state. Joint health is highly dependent on adequate surrounding muscle. Importance of exercise goes way beyond having a great looking body. Its a start to being our best.

Good muscle tone does more than just support our joints and help us lift heavy objects. Regular total body workouts keep our hearts strong and improve our general overall health. This is true if we are going about it the right way. Applying the correct nutrition plan will ensure the best results. In my biased opinion, I would recommend you get assistance from a personal trainer and a nutritionist.

Importance of exercise
getting started

Importance of exercise

Commit to an exercise routine, preferably with some professional guidance. Your nutritionist will explain how you lower the risks of heat-attack, diabetes, and many more life-threatening illnesses. Obesity is a major killer in modern day society. It is never too soon to take control of your health. Losing weight is possible under the right conditions and guidance of a qualified nutritionist.

Importance of exercise has many mental health benefits that are just as important as the physical. Physical activity is shown to help in raising serotonin and dopamine levels which helps with depression and anxiety. Getting fit and healthy boosts our mood and self-esteem. The psychological benefits of physical activity are immense. Clinicians working with addiction will almost always recommend exercise as part of the rehabilitation process.

How to get started

There are loads of fun and exciting forms of exercise available for all levels of ability. We all start with different levels of fitness and physical ability. Some of us might be ready to enter a park run, while others might be starting rehabilitation in a hospital. All we need is a positive attitude and desire to improve our current physical condition.

Importance of exercise far out-weighs most of our habitual distractions. There are so many things to distract us during the course of our day. We often convince ourselves, we have no time for a workout. If you spend any recreational time on a device, then you have time to exercise. In 4 minutes, you can do 50 push-ups.  Dedicate another 6 minutes to sit-ups and you have a pretty decent 10-minute workout.

For those who suffer from obesity and certain physical disabilities, a swimming pool is a great place to start. By walking the shallow end of a pool, you are able to get low impact movements in your body. This is a perfect way to increase blood flow and regain mobility in injured joints and build wasted muscle.

Importance of exercise
a way of life

Fitness culture

It is really good to see how the fitness culture has boomed over recent years. Lots of people are realizing how the importance of exercise is not something to ignore. There is more park runs, mountain biking events and yoga studios than ever before. Gyms are packed and many are setting up home gyms too. Family sport and leisure centers are popping up all over the place.

Living well is no longer just for certain athletic types. People are coming out of their shells and trying out various activities and finding that they really enjoy it. Some people might have the impression that technology is keeping people indoors. In fact, technology is helping people keep track of their performance and vital signs. Most people listen to their favorite music or podcast while they are working out. I touched a bit on this in a previous blog about earplugs that never fall out.

A way of life

Importance of exercise will soon become ingrained in our everyday lives, once we discover what works and feels good. A morning routine becomes enjoyable once we have seen the results. It is a great feeling to receive compliments on how much weight you have lost muscle that you gained. With time, we become more motivated and our exercise routine becomes a way of life.

I hope this article inspires you to make the adjustments necessary to be the best you can be. Please comment below with any advice or questions you might have. Thank you for taking the time to read my blog. There are more blogs on various other subjects for your pleasure.

Is a high fruit diet healthy?

What is a high fruit diet?

Out of all the controversial topics out there, this one really rattles people. Firstly, what is a high fruit diet? A diet that provides you with calories almost entirely from fresh, ripe and in-season fruit. Generally speaking, a fruitarian is a raw foodist who will eat from above the ground, concentrating on the fruit in particular. Is a high fruit diet healthy? Ask me, and I will answer yes, as I have experienced first hand the high energy, great digestion, elimination and elevated mood. Speak to a qualified nutritionist, and get the low down on why it is the ultimate diet for all humans.

By now, most people not living under a rock have heard of veganism or know someone who is vegan. Veganism is often regarded as extream. I have been vegan for 5 years now, and it has never been difficult. Vegans come in all shapes and sizes. Some are a little obsessed with their health like I am. Others enjoy Mexican, Indian, Italian and all sorts of vegan junk food like pizzas, burgers, and fry-ups. Most vegans still maintain better health than most people do., even with some processed food added to their diet.

Is a high fruit diet healthy?

I find this a strange question. Growing up, I was constantly reminded to eat more fruit. I think everyone can agree, fruit is healthy. Some people will have concerns about not eating a “balanced meal” or the sugar spikes from eating a lot of fruit. There are answers to all these questions. I will leave all that up to you to research on www.plantbasednutrition.guru

Personally, at this stage in my life, I am 100% raw but do not consider myself a fruitarian. I add a large amount of mostly organic greens to my high fruit diet, as well as nuts and seeds. Is a high fruit diet healthy? I suppose it also depends on what is added to that diet in terms of minerals and other nutrients that aren’t too plentiful in fruit. I won’t get into an argument about protein or other vital nutrients with a long-term fruitarian. That is one argument I will undoubtedly lose. A great resource is Anne Osborne’s Fruitarianism : Path to Paradise.

I had blood work done about a year ago, after not using any supplementation. At the time of doing bloodwork, I was eating mostly healthy and a mixture of raw and cooked with occasional vegan junk food in between. My protein, iron, D3, and calcium levels were all fine. Only my B12 levels were a bit low, which I later rectified with intermittent supplementation. Most, if not all fruitarians do not supplement and do not suffer from any malnutrition or malabsorption. They are usually found doing an outdoor activity with lots of sunshine. I have been told that walking barefoot in the dirt and eating plenty of organic fruit that is not over washed will supply you with enough vitamin B12.

Is a high fruit diet healthy?

Simplifying life

Perhaps there are better questions to ask than, Is a high fruit diet healthy? Why is there not more research into the benefits of a fruitarian diet? Speak to any longterm frugivore and they will blow you away with their knowledge of nutrition. Some might say that all that fructose will cause your teeth to rot. This is true, but only if you don’t practice good dental hygiene.

Living a simple life and eating a natural, simple diet is very attractive to someone of a minimalist mindset. I have to admit, I am very keen to take the next step and live off a predominantly fruit-based diet. My personal research has to lead me to believe this is the ideal lifestyle.

Addictions

The controversy around eating healthy versus eating a Standard American Diet [ SAD ] all boils down to addiction. We will defend unhealthy eating habits and look for fault in obviously healthier choices because we are addicted to nutrient deficient, cooked food.

I will discuss addictions in greater depth on a Monkeymind blog in the near future. We all have addictions of some sort. The only way to deal with these dependencies is to first admit they exist.

Staying focused

Once we do the research, we will intuitively know we are meant to live on a high fruit diet. Focus on what is real and beneficial to yourself and your environment. There is no point in wasting energy in arguments about things we have no personal experience in. Don’t knock it till you try it.

Is a high fruit diet healthy? I would say it is, but don’t take my word for it. Try it for yourself. Go onto Youtube and listen to numerous testimonials of how peoples’ lives have changed for the better.

Is a high fruit diet healthy?
it’s more than just eating fruit, its a way of life

I hope you found this article thought-provoking. If I can at least get someone to think outside the box, then I feel like I’ve achieved something worthwhile. I would love to hear from fruitarians out there and some of their invaluable insight. Please drop a comment below and help inspire all of us that are still sitting on the fence.

Minimalist footwear at its best

Bearfoot is best

There is numerous evidence pointing to barefoot walking as the healthiest for our feet, ankles, knees, and backs. I watch my two sons walking everywhere barefoot and I can’t help but envy them. There is so much more to walking barefoot than we realize. I discuss this in more detail, in my book, Free I Am. We have been conditioned by society to cover our feet in most formal and informal settings. The soles of our feet have become over sensitive and muscles have become week. I was now on a mission to find a shoe that replicates the feeling of barefoot walking. The best minimalist shoe was out there, and I was going to find it.

I have been hunting for a long lasting shoe that will give me support, comfort, and style for a long time. Love the feel of walking barefoot, whenever I get the chance. I have finally found the minimalist shoe that gives me that same feeling of being grounded, but with the protection I need. The part that really astounds me is, how well made these shoes are. Xero Shoes speak of a 5000-mile warranty on the soles, and I can see why they are so confident about this product. I have been using my hanas for a full year now and there is hardly any noticeable wear.

The best minimalist shoe

I did a video on the purchase of my Ipari Hanas a year ago. A year later, and I can honestly say they feel better than when I first got them. We are now in winter, in the Southern Hemisphere, and I’m wearing them nearly every day. The only time I’m not wearing them is indoors and on hot days when I’m looking for an excuse to go properly barefoot. What I have noticed is how much more I can do barefoot since I’ve worn the Hanas. The muscles in my feet have strengthened and my posture has improved.

I have struggled with knee problems for many years and even ended up having a total knee replacement. I can’t explain the science behind it, but the Ipari Hana definitely makes walking a whole lot easier. My only issue since buying the best minimalist shoes is I don’t want to wear any of my other shoes.

Ipari Hana, the next best thing to walking barefoot

Why you’ll love the Ipari Hana

  • Natural FIT — a wide toe box lets your toes spread and relax. Plus the “XERO-drop” sole (non-elevated heel and low-to-the-ground) allows for proper posture, balance, and agility.
  • Natural FUNCTION — the Hana is flexible enough to let your feet bend, move, and flex the way, well, that feet are supposed to. Plus, they’re so lightweight, you’ll barely know you have them on. A men’s 9 is only 8 ounces each.
  • Natural FEEL — the Hana uses the same 5.5mm FeelTrue® rubber sole from our Z-Trek sandal, so you get great protection while still getting the ground feedback that your feet like. With an optional 2mm insole, the Hana truly lets you Feel The World®.
  • Vegan-friendly materials — the Hana’s upper is canvas, the lining and external accents are microfiber. It washes easily with soap and water.
  • Huarache-inspired design — the heel/instep strap is not only eye-catching but functional.
  • Flexible heel — feel free to step on the heel and wear the Hana as a “slide”

Why is it called “Ipari Hana”?

“Ipari” is the category name we’re using for all of our closed-toe shoes (yes, that means more are coming!). It was inspired by “rarajipari,” the running, ball-kicking game the Tarahumara play… even though it’s an endurance game, the emphasis is on FUN. Then, “Hana” was inspired by the name of the town in Maui, Hawaii that exemplifies the feeling of casual adventure. Plus, “hana” means “craft” in Hawaiian.

Put it together and you get a well-crafted, elegant casual shoe that’s perfect for your next adventure. The best minimalist shoe, that I use everywhere!

Tell the world about them

This is definitely one of the easiest product for me to market and recommend. These shoes tick all the boxes for me, especially the fact that they are vegan-friendly. In my Youtube video, I mention the issues I had with the South Africa post office, so please avoid using them.  Other countries have much more efficient postal services, which would probably work fine. I suggest choosing the most expensive shipping option if you live in an area notorious for delays.

You can grab a pair of Hanas or any of the other styles of Xero Shoes through the vhawker.com website. The best minimalist shoe ever.
